Cincinnati Scots Take the Windy City by Storm
March 6, 2004 - The Cincinnati Scots Highland Dancers began their 2004 competition season at the 12th Annual Chicagoland Spring Fling at Indian Lakes Resort outside Chicago, Illinois. And continuing their winning tradition, ALL Cincinnati Scots dancers that competed, medaled.
Natalie, Emma, Katelyn and Erin represented the Cincinnati Scots in the Novice Class. Ashley and Amanda represented in the Premier Class.
In the Novice 9 and under division, Erin placed 5th in Flora and 4th in the Fling. Then, she placed 1st in both the Sword and Triubhas, enough to win the trophy. There were 11 dancers in this division.
In the Novice 12 and under division, Katelyn placed 3rd in the Flora, 5th in the Fling, 2nd in the Sword and 6th in the Triubhas. Emma, at age 10 in this division, placed 4th in the Fling and 3rd in the Sword. There were 13 registered dancers in this division.
In the Novice 15 and under division, Natalie placed 3rd in the Flora, 2nd in the Fling, 3rd in the Sword and 2nd in the Triubhas. Natalie had just turned 13 in January and was one of only two 13-year-olds in this division. There were 11 registered dancers in the division.
Amanda and Ashley both had INCREDIBLE performances in their respective divisions.
In the Premier 15 and under division, Amanda placed 2nd in the Fling, 1st in the Sword, 1st in the Triubhas, and 1st in the Reel. Amanda also brought home the trophy for this division.
In the Premier 17 and under division, Ashley placed 1st in the Fling, 4th in the Sword, 3rd in the Triubhas, and 1st in the Reel. Another trophy!
In summary, the Cincinnati Scots dancers brought home 13 medals and three trophies, as well as some cash for placing in the Premier 17 and under division. And Mr. Wilshire performed well enough in the raffle to win Mrs. Wilshire a lovely tartan shoulder bag.
